RIDING ITINERARY
What to Expect
Explore the forested mountains, creeks and trails of the Okanagan. Endless trails treat horse and rider to panoramic views and, depending on the season of your visit, changing scenery is provided by a fast variety of local flora and wildlife. Bring your camera, your love of the outdoors, and a sense of adventure!
Rides will be approximately 4 to 5 hours daily. Inexperienced riders become confident and ready for the trail after instructions in the arena and oval track.
ITINERARY: WILDERNESS RIDE & INDIAN SUMMER RIDE
| Sunday |
Arrive in the late afternoon and meet your hosts Arnold and Toos Faber. You can settle in to your cabin, stroll around the farm and visit the horses, relax and meet any other guests during happy hour with a nice glass of wine and coffee. (D) |
| Monday |
After a good night's sleep and a lovely breakfast, we will start with an introduction to the Icelandic horse. A brief evaluation and assignment of horses is followed by some riding instructions in the arena, coffee and cake, and more bonding with your horse on the oval track. Next is a lunch break and then all riders are off for the afternoon ride through the establishment's attractive forest. (B+L+D) |
| Tuesday |
Tuesday is a serious day of riding into the exciting backcountry with a good chance to see some of the local wildlife. It is not uncommon to see coyotes, deer, bears, baldheaded eagles, and grouse. Lunch will be a trail picnic. Ride back to the facilities and relax .... the hot tub awaits! (B+L+D) |
| Wednesday |
Today will be a gentle riding day. We will be back for a nice lunch at the resort. In the afternoon you will have time to stay and relax in the hot tub, hike, or do one of the many fascinating activities possible in this area. At 7:30 pm we meet you again for a real Canadian barbecue. (B+L+D) |
| Thursday |
A nice, hardy breakfast is a good start the day. Then we ride through the Canadian forest to the top of the mountain where a stunning view overlooking the open country valley awaits you. We will have a tasty and fun picnic lunch at this viewpoint and after a few hours of descending the hill, we finish our ride with a nice tolt. (B+L+D) |
| Friday |
On this day you will ride your favorite Icelandic horse on a beautiful, high wilderness trail. This trail gives you stunning views of Okanagan Lake and the surrounding area. Our riding destination will be the Creek Side restaurant where we will have our last lunch together, around 2 - 3 pm. Then we say, "Till we meet again" or... you may book for the weekend as well. | Saturday |
After a good night's sleep and a lovely breakfast, we will start with an introduction to the Icelandic horse. A brief evaluation and assignment of horses is followed by some riding instructions in the arena, coffee and cake, and more bonding with your horse on the oval track. Next is a lunch break and then all riders are off for the afternoon ride through the establishment's attractive forest. Relax in the hot tub before dinner - our guests' favorite cedar planked wild salmon from the BBQ. (B+L+D) |

TWO-DAY SCHOOLING & INTRODUCTION TO THE ICELANDIC HORSE WEEKEND
| Two-Day Schooling For Icelandic horse owners. You have the option of using your own horse(s) or we will provide one for you. This program can be customized to fit your specific needs. During the two-day program, you can focus on improving your riding capabilities, learn techniques in starting young horses, and hone your competitive skills. We will teach you how to show and ride your horse for evaluation and end the weekend with a fun cross-country ride. The lessons will be held in the arena and oval track. Your instructor is Arnold Faber who has been training and working with Icelandic horses for more than 40 years. |
| Introduction to the Icelandic Horse Weekend
This is for guests who want to learn more about riding an Icelandic horse. More time is spent with lessons in the arena and may include a ride or two on the trail. |
